Dana Pearson

Dana loves teaching life skills through theatre arts; focus, character development, collaboration, working with a team and being part of something bigger than yourself. Life skills indeed!
Drama has had a major influence in her life. She has directed numerous productions for the Egyptian Theatre in Park City where she launched their youth theater program and served as the education director for over ten years. She, alongside Rebecca Hess, developed Kid's Act Up acting camps for Weber State University. They were also members of the Utah Performing Arts Tour and performed throughout the state.
Dana recently moved to Cottonwood Heights. Seeing a need for a program in her new community, she teamed up with former colleague Rebecca Hess and launched Project Drama, Young Actors Studio. She is committed to creating positive learning experiences for the youth in the area. ype your paragraph here.

Rebecca Hess

Rebecca has an MA degree in Children’s Theatre from Utah State University. She has performed in and directed productions at children’s theatre companies in Utah: Storybook Players, BYU Young Company, and UST Children’s Theatre Company. Rebecca has taught youth theatre classes for the past 20 years at companies including: Utah Musical Theatre Kids Act Up, Park City Youtheatre, University of Utah Theatre School for Youth, and CenterPoint Academy. She served as a Theatre Specialist in several local schools as a part of the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) where her focus was integrating the core curriculum with the arts. Rebecca has been teaching in Utah’s public school system for 15 years, and is currently teaching drama at Uintah Elementary. She has directed several school productions during this time and has developed and directed show choirs at five of these schools. Rebecca is often seen acting on stage locally at the CenterPoint Legacy Theatre. Seeing the children she teaches gain self-esteem, find happiness in performing and develop acting and musical skills never gets old for Rebecca. She considers it a privilege to be a small part of the lives of these young people.

Rebecca and Dana have been teaching acting and musical theatre for children, tweens, and teens for over 25 years. Developing curriculum, writing plays and musicals, and directing productions for youth is their specialty. They love the creative process and watching young performers develop self esteem, confidence, and new skills. Skills for theatre, but more importantly, skills for life!
